Choosing a studio for your newborn photography session comes with a host of benefits that can lead to stunning, timeless images. From a neutral backdrop and props that elicit bright and airy photos to less stress when it comes to preparing for your session, there are many benefits of a studio newborn session. As you embark on this exciting journey of parenthood, consider the advantages of a studio session to create lasting memories of your little one’s early days. After all, these fleeting moments are worth capturing beautifully!
It’s a Vulnerable Time
I know this is a very vulnerable time in your life – you’re tired, you may still be wearing diapers yourself, and you’re just learning how to navigate this new role. You may feel more comfortable in a professional setting without the worry of lighting, cleaning, and having someone come into your home.
You Don’t Have to Clean
One of the top benefits of a studio newborn session is not having to clean! While your house does not need to be spick and span, you would need to clean up the rooms we will shoot in. An in home session can sometimes lead to additional stress for parents. You may feel pressure to clean and clean your entire house beforehand, and you might be worried about managing your home environment while trying to focus on the session. Homes often have distractions—pets, other children, and everyday clutter can divert attention from the session. A studio environment is designed to focus solely on the baby, allowing for a more streamlined and distraction-free experience.
More Control Over Lighting
Natural lighting can be unpredictable at home. While you might have some well-lit areas, other parts of your home may be too dark or have harsh shadows. My favorite studios in the Atlanta metro area have natural light flooding in with lots, sheer white curtains, neutral props, and light furniture that enhance the quality of the photos.
There are many benefits to a studio newborn session but one is not superior over the other. It just depends on what you want out of your images. If you want newborn photos with a neutral environment without the added stress of having to clean and prepare your house for the session, then a studio newborn session might be the right choice for you. If you have the cutest nursery that you worked SO hard on and a home that gets tons of light, an in home newborn session might be a better option for you.
